A storyteller at heart, Narayan drew inspiration from literature ranging from the Jataka tales and Indian folklore to Biblical and other cultural narratives. His fascination with mythology and wonder is beautifully reflected in his depiction of the gentle unicorn — rendered in dreamlike, soothing colours that infuse his work with a sense of fantasy.
