Naren J. Panchal (1936–2007)

Overview
From Umargaon, Gujarat, Panchal absorbed regional craft, woodwork, and folk forms, blending them with newspaper imagery and a fascination for zero and number systems. A diploma from Sir J. J. School of Art (1962) was followed by four years at the Development Centre for Educational Toys.


Vitrum & Practice
At Vitrum, his rigidly stylised, geometric rural figures found a natural home in ceramics as modular storytelling.
